In 1800 the town of Union was in what was then Tioga County. Later that part of Tioga County where Union was located became part of Broome County. In 1790 its inhabitants reported with those of Chemung Town, in Montgomery County. Hence, the Tracys enumerated in Chemung Town in 1790 were very likely living in the area that by 1800 was part of Union... which was itself later broken into towns that included Tioga, Chenango, Owego, Lisle and Vestal... towns in Tioga and Broome Counties, towns and counties associated with Tracys. Christopher Tracy who was listed in close proximity to Jonathan Tracy in the 1790 Chemung Town census, appears in Union in the 1800 census for Tioga County and in the 1825 New York State Census for Union, now in Broome County.
