Some Background

Hopestill Tyler was also referred to as Hopestill Tiler/Tabor/Tyler. The family name was spelled "Tiler," in the records of the Massachusetts Bay Colony; "Tabor," is how his and his wife's surname name is spelled by Ruth (Tracy) Reynolds, his granddaughter, (the daughter of Elizabeth (Tyler) Tracy) in the entry she made in her bible referencing the deaths of her grandparents. (She presumably knew his surname... perhaps the spelling is phonetic, based on what she thought she heard?) All "official" records in Preston, Connecticut, clearly spell his name, "Tyler." And he also went by the name of Hope Tyler.8
