Founder or First Settler

On 13 February 1690, Lieut. Thomas Treat was one of the petitioners for the incorporation of Glastonbury. In 1691 he assisted in forming first church there. As one of the founders of the town he received large grants in the first division of land. In 1693, he also inherited Nayaug Farm from his father (Richard, Jr.), the large farm left by his paternal grandfather, Richard, Sr.


Military ServiceIn May 1711, while living Glastonbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut Colony, New England,Lieut. Thomas Treat served as a Lieutenant of the Train Band.
