Circa 1638, Richard Treat was among the founders/first settlers of Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut Colony, New England. He removed to Wethersfield, Conn; 1st mentioned there as Juror 1643; One of very few men entitled Mister; He was one of the foremost men of the colony in secular, religious, & military affairs and was one of 19 patentees on the colonial charter of 1662 granted by Charles II. A very wealthy man for the period, held large tracts of land on the East side of the river, in the Glastonbury section of Wethersfield. Fathered 10 chldrn, Richard, Jr. the 4th.
