Enumerated, probably at Scots Bay, as Mrs. George Jess, the recently widowed Charlotte is listed with one inhabited house of one family, with three outbuildings. Her family of eight was comprised of: one male (John) and one female (Charlotte Ann) under 10 years; two males (David and George) and one female (Sarah) 10 -20 years; two males (Joseph and William) 20-30 years; and herself in the 40-50 years column. (Names of children are inferred from their ages in 1851).6
