Theirs was considered a "mixed marriage" by the Catholic Church and so the marriage ceremony could not take place inside the church... it was instead solemnized in the church rectory by Rev. John Shay. Both the bride and the groom were from the Whittenton neighborhood of Taunton. Albert had recently received his discharge from the navy.4
