Some Background

Jane Dodge was also known as Jane Fenne Dodge. Some transcriptions of the Marriage Records in Warwick record the name as Fanne Dodge.2,3

Birth - Marriage - Death

ChildJane Dodge was born circa 1650.1
BrideJane Dodge married Thomas Stafford Jr., son of Thomas Stafford and Elizabeth, on 20 December 1671 in Warwick, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, New England. Married by Justice John Greene.
Torrey's New England Marriages to 1700 indicates Jane Fenne Dodge was Thomas' first wife. Torrey cites as one of his sources the New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 37:275; Marriages Recorded In Warwick, N.I., In Book of Marriages No. 1. This source shows Thomas' bride as "Fanne Dodge" without showing her parentage. This rendering of Thomas' bride's name may be a transcription error, a misreading of "Jane"? In any case, all sources indicate Thomas married a daughter of a Dodge family.4,5,6
